An ImMediaTe Success: the Mobile Gaming Summit November 16, 2010
The idea of hosting a Mobile Gaming Summit in Malta proved a thorough success: the ImMediaTe Consortium attracted both European and Asian players from the vast and rapidly expanding gaming industry to a dedicated three-day summit.
The Mobile Gaming Summit (Nov. 3-5) brought together over 150 participants from 10 countries and organised 120 business meetings, 16 coaching sessions and 13 showcases, not to mention the highly successful inaugural conference with 25 top-level speakers and panellists.
As a world premiere, the event brought the video gaming and iGaming communities together to discuss different origins, perspectives and skills and analyse the inevitable convergence that is being cemented by mobile gaming.
Large players and small innovative enterprises from both Europe and Asia enthusiastically participated in the summit as demonstrated by the enthusiasm of Stanley Wang (Deputy General Director, Institute for Information Industry, Taiwan):
“We want to congratulate you for a job well done. We believe that Malta does offer some unique advantages as a gateway to the EU for companies from the Far East.”
John Camilleri Brennan (Director, OwlieGames Ltd., Malta) was similarly enthusiastic: “I congratulate you on the impeccable organisation of the Mobile Gaming Summit Conference as well as on the choice of the Speakers. I must say that all the speeches, interviews and showcasing sessions proved to be very interesting and full of valuable information.”
And a few more: “Thanks for the perfect coordination of the event. We enjoyed Malta tremendously and the outcomes were good, and as soon as we get home we will begin to initiate and follow up on the matters discussed in Malta.” (Kamil Othman, VP Creative Multimedia Strategy & Policy, Multimedia Development Corporation, Malaysia)
“Thanks for a nice stay and a great conference.” (Jørgen Tharaldsen, Creative Producer, Funcom, Norway)
“Yes, it's lovely. Here for the Mobile Gaming Summit. You should have come”!(Head of Innovation, New Markets and Skills, Screen WM, UK)
“I had a great time at the seminar today!”(Simon Rajan Bharwani, Key Official, Winasyougo Ltd, Malta)
“I was very pleased with my stay over there and learned a lot through the people I met.”(Marc Frencken, CEO, InnoCrator, the Netherlands)
Michela Michilli, ImMediaTe Project Director, explained that the Consortium is “currently working to identify synergies and financial opportunities with all public organizations, associations and stakeholders in the creative industries. Clearly, this is a recognition of our platform to mobilise cross-border finance and open access to international markets in the creative industries sector.”
The Mobile Gaming Summit was co-financed by the CIP programme of the European Union and supported by local sponsors, making it a unique and completely free high-level appointment for all participants.
The Mobile Gaming Summit is one in a series of events organised by Project ImMediaTe to provide tools and services to assist the growth of digital media SMEs operating in the creative industries sector.
The next ImMediaTe events will be held in April (Rome) and June 2011 (Paris).
