Apart subscriptions to Internet and PayTV, gaming is the biggest and fastest growing sector of digital media. Public institutions in Europe and beyond see it therefore as an ideal “innovative and creative” sector where to test policies and support schemes to make new companies flourish and new jobs created. Is that a reasonable and achievable objective or the “scale of the game” is so big that the largest companies dominate the entire market dynamics? Shall we expect new business relationships emerge between the big fishes and the minnows? Are there significant differences within Europe and between Europe and other regions of the world, especially South-East Asia?
